MeKo History

Expansion of the Company Premises

MeKo is continuously growing. For this reason, the MetalWorks division is moving to a neighboring building. After extensive renovations, the move will take place in March. MeKo MetalWorks will now be located at Im Kirchenfelde 8.

First Implantation of Vasculoy® Stents

In a specialized cardiology center in Bangalore, India, the first 36 stents made from Vasculoy® were implanted in January.

Presentation of Resoloy®

MeKo introduces Resoloy®, a self-developed bioresorbable magnesium alloy for stents.

Expansion of the company headquarters continues

With further expansion to 7,800 m², the main entrance is also moving to the other side of the company premises. Therefore, the address changes again to: Im Kirchenfelde 12-14, 31157 Sarstedt.

MeKo acquires cleanrooms

Two cleanrooms of class 10,000 and 100,000 are being set up. High demands for clean and particle-free products can now be met.

MeKo continues to grow

In 2000, the company building is expanded to 3,100 m² to make room for additional machinery, laboratories, and offices.

MeKo is relocating

In 1997, MeKo moves to a new, purpose-built facility. Covering an area of 1,500 m², the new facility allows for the expansion of production with additional machinery and staff.

First stent production

From early on, the focus was on precision and specialty machining. In 1995, MeKo was one of the first two companies worldwide to manufacture coronary artery implants (stents) using laser cutting technology.

First CO2 laser put into operation

The addition of a used 500 W CO2 laser expanded the processing capabilities, especially in laser cutting.

Founding of MeKo

MeKo was founded in May 1991 by Dr. Clemens Meyer-Kobbe, initially as a one-man company. Laser material processing began with a used Nd:YAG- laser in a rented small hall in Sarstedt, approximately 10 km south of Hannover.
