Shape Setting

Meko

Shape setting is the moment Nitinol comes to life. With carefully controlled heat, the alloy is “trained” to remember its final geometry—the diameter of a stent, the curve of a guidewire or the frame of a heart valve. Without it, Nitinol would just be another metal tube. With it, implants can unfold inside the body and return to their programmed shape again and again.

But getting this step right is anything but simple. Every degree of temperature, every second of heating can influence how the implant behaves once it’s in the patient. A shape that doesn’t expand correctly or a radial force that’s too weak to hold the artery open can mean the difference between success and failure.

At MeKo, we’ve spent decades mastering this process. Our engineers know how to fine-tune shape setting so that each component performs exactly as intended: reliable, safe, and consistent from prototype to series production.
